I read the manga right after the anime because I needed more. The anime follows the manga quite faithfully except at the end if I remember correctly (which the manga did better in my opinion). The artwork is great, and I had a lot of fun going through the story again. If you can, look for the boxset with the 13th manga 'How Mikami as a character is kind of cool, and Light actually losing and seeing the event's unfold after is interesting but those dont make up for the actual plot. Like could Light not have stitched a piece of the death note into his pocket and then written the names with a small pencil? Well with that theory, the "Gevanni copying Death Note" (not similar handwriting but Mikami was basically brainwashed so it didn't matter) does make sense. And it'd be impossible for Light to win without Mikami and Death Note. Make more sense but Mikami's foolishness still irk me lol. Death note is one of those zeitgeist shows that’s considered a staple to most anime fans. There’s a few shows that are mostly considered must watches if you’re a fan of the genre and for most Death Note falls in this category. I’d say yes finish it. As for anime adaptations, the first one ended in 2007, while the second one (Death Note: Relight) wrapped up in 2008.
